This past summer, CEO Jamie Briesemeister had the incredible opportunity to travel to Denmark at the invitation of Bang & Olufsen, the renowned high-end consumer electronics company. Founded in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, Bang & Olufsen has a storied history of craftsmanship, innovation, and design excellence. While the entire Integration Controls team has always admired their products, there was something truly special about seeing the brand up close and in person—experiencing the dedication of the people behind it and witnessing the culture that sustains this remarkable company. The trip left us not only further captivated by the brand but with an even deeper respect for their commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Read on to learn more about Jamie’s trip.
One of the highlights of the journey was touring the main Bang & Olufsen factory, where every product is meticulously designed and manufactured. Seeing their processes firsthand offered a new appreciation for what makes Bang & Olufsen a luxury brand that truly stands the test of time. Factory 5, the section of the factory where metalwork is showcased, was especially impressive. Watching the team shape and finish the aluminum—an essential component in Bang & Olufsen's iconic products—highlighted their attention to detail and the exceptional quality of their craftsmanship.
Jamie also visited the Bang & Olufsen Museum, where she learned about the company's founders, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, and their journey from humble beginnings to creating an international symbol of luxury and design. One story that stood out was how they developed a radio that could run on alternating current at a time when most radios still relied on batteries. This innovation reflected their commitment to solving real problems through design—an ethos that remains strong at Bang & Olufsen today.
Another aspect of the visit that made a lasting impression was the people behind the brand. Jamie was especially moved by the "Wall of Fame" featuring over 1,500 employees who have contributed to Bang & Olufsen's success. This company, which is nearly a century old, has cultivated a sense of loyalty and pride among its people that is truly inspiring. The employees' dedication to their craft and passion for what they do, make the products so special.
One of the core values that stood out was their commitment to building products that are designed to last. In a world of disposable technology, Bang & Olufsen's philosophy is to create products that can be repaired and upgraded instead of thrown away. This is more than just a nod to sustainability—it's an acknowledgment of the luxury nature of their brand and the importance of offering long-term service and support to their customers.
Along with the tour of the B&O factory, Jamie experienced a group tour throughout the Danish countryside. “Jetta, our tour guide and hospitality concierge, took us to many charming spots throughout Denmark and along the western coast,” Jamie said. “I was touched by the warmth of the people, their pride in craftsmanship, and thoughtful design, evident throughout their daily lives. This experience helped me gain a stronger connection with the Bang & Olufsen brand and the confidence that they will be a strong partner as they re-enter the American market.”
